For this project, I set out to completely rethink the role and form of curtains within an interior space. The main concept was to transform traditional curtains into dynamic architectural elements—making them more structural and extending their presence into the roof space. This approach sought to create a visually exciting environment where the boundaries between fabric, structure, and space are blurred.

Project Objectives:

  • Redesign the curtains for greater structural impact and integration.

  • Extend curtain lines into the roof space, emphasizing verticality.

  • Use shapes inspired by the concept of “home” to evoke comfort and enclosure.

  • Incorporate pine panels that reach up into the roof, enhancing the sense of shelter and intimacy

Creative Approach:

The curtains are reimagined as sculptural components, forming an interplay of shape and material that echoes domestic comfort while contributing bold new forms to the interior. By leveraging the materiality of pine and the softness of fabric, the design delivers a layered spatial experience marked by both solidity and warmth.

Design insights and reflection

This project challenged conventional boundaries between soft furnishings and architecture. By treating curtains as structural, space-defining elements, I explored how small interventions could fundamentally shift the feeling of a room—making the ordinary extraordinary while preserving a sense of home and comfort.

final outcome

The resulting design elevates both the visual and spatial character of the room. Renders and material studies demonstrate how the newly designed curtains and pine panels transform the space, offering new opportunities for enclosure, light diffusion, and visual interest.

This project reflects my passion for pushing the limits of interior elements and finding new narratives within everyday spatial features.
